At 3 Bright Stars, we offer tutoring, training and teaching services to help learners, their families plus professional educators achieve , attain and develop skills .
Based in Burton on Trent in Staffordshire, our tutoring services offer sessions for individuals or small groups to develop literacy and numeracy skills, develop study skills and develop strategies for organising, processing and sequencing.We work with Early Years , KS 1 and 2 students across the curriculum , and for KS3 and 4 we offer focussed reading and writing support for those young people who are needing some extra help to secure those skills. We even offer study skills support for students in Higher ( Uni) or further education (college or apprenticeships)!
Typically you might come to us for 1 to 1 tutor phonics support, reading or writing challenges , or for that personalised time in the week to focus on your very own next steps in education.
We know that every learner is unique and has the potential to shine—both academically and personally.

Every learner has unique talents and abilities, and we make it our mission to uncover and celebrate them. Focusing on what you are already good at creates a positive foundation for learning. Success in one area will aid connection to further learning. Confidence and well being grows from securing feelings of self belief. Our focussed Dyslexia support can be very powerful at helping leaners to learn to know their strengths in real terms.
Sometimes learners find it hard to have their voice heard in their own educational journeys. 1 to 1 tutoring effectively supports leaners and it's why we take the time to understand what you and your child have to say about how they learn best and what they enjoy. We involve them in the process, asking questions like, “What helps you learn well?” or “What do you like about your new learning?” This collaborative approach not only makes learning more enjoyable but also helps children feel more in control of their own education.

When we securely understand what we do well we can find the confidence to step into the less well known. For example, a learner may decode words well but struggles to recall information they've just read about... we can help you use your strengths ( decoding well) and develop confidence to be ok with taking new steps into the hard things ( recalling information from what you've read about) ... we do this together and step by step.

For Families
Especially for our younger learners we know that the best learning happens when families work together. We also know that for many families it's a worry to know how to help. We put the child's voice at the heart of the tutoring experience AND help parents learn more about how they can help too . We ask that you stay for 1-1 sessions - either near by or joining in !
Plus included in your tutoring plans are our family resources ( protected page ) and webinars/ online workshops - access them when you wish or come along to our weekly online events.

Empowered learning isn’t just about securing certain grades BUT it's not much fun to be struggling and feeling left behind . Tutoring sessions can help to contribute to developing a secure sense of what is going well, what is the next step and exploring strategies to help discover what success feels like for each learner.

1:1 Tutoring
Our one-on-one tutoring sessions are designed to provide personalised support that aligns with your child’s curriculum and specific learning goals.
Where: These sessions can take place at school ( local to Burton upon Trent) , in your home, or at our tutor's home ( Burton ) for convenience and comfort.
How: We tailor each session to focus on your child’s strengths while addressing areas for growth. We build confidence and instil a love of learning through multisensory engaging methods. Teaching might look different from your memory of schools - expect games, colour, messy fun and music!
Why: Whether your child needs help catching up, staying on track, or excelling further, 1:1 tutoring offers the focused attention they need to succeed.
Group Tutoring
Learning alongside friends new and old can be incredibly motivating and rewarding. Our group tutoring sessions provide a fun, collaborative environment where children can tackle academic challenges together. for some children this can be very reassuring as learning together is a very natural way to learn.
Curriculum : Typical focus would be on maths, literacy, and well-being through skills growth, ensuring children receive balanced support.
Benefits: Group settings encourage teamwork, social skills, and peer support while still providing a structured learning experience.
Why It Works: By learning with others, children gain the confidence to share ideas, ask questions, and celebrate their progress in a supportive group dynamic.
Home Schooling Support
For families who homeschool, we offer bespoke tutoring tailored to your child’s interests and educational goals. These could be 1-1 or you might have home school pals that you'd like to learn with !
Flexibility: Sessions can be themed or focussed on specific topics based on children's own interests.
Subjects: From literacy and numeracy to creative projects, we aim to meet your child’s needs while aligning with national education standards. this can help you supplement your home based curriculum offer.

Higher Education Student Support
3 Bright Stars owner , Sarah is an experienced Higher education lecturer and as a qualified teacher of Higher eduction ( PGCHE ) and with FHEA (fellowship of the Higher Education Academy. Offering 1 to 1 tutor sessions study skills, and support to develop independent study skills to help you meet the demands of level 4 to level 7 work with confidence. Frequently leaners find out about their dyslexia when they start Uni. Ask us about our dyslexia support services.

It can be easy to aleways think about our next goal as something we aren't so good at.... but what happens when you focus on something you are already good at and use those skills even more?
In our teaching at 3 Bright Stars we look for what we can do well and use that to embrace new challenges . For example, reading skills are good but writing needs better punctuation we teach you how to use your reading skills to check your own writing.
